Part-Time Faculty: SWK 628: Human Diversity in Social Contexts (Spring 2027) Location: Syracuse, NY Pay Range: $2,084.07 - $2,146.59 per credit hour Pay Determination: Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months' salary unless otherwise specified. Class meets: Thursdays, 9:30-12:15 PM EST, in-person Office hours are required Job Type: Part Time Rank: PTI/Adjunct Campus: Syracuse, NY Unionized Position Code: UA Job Description: The School of Education seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach SWK 628: Human Diversity in Social Contexts (Spring 2027) Course Description: The course examines diversity, including race, gender, and sexual orientation, and selected topics. A specific focus will be given to group and institutional identity formation, theories of biopsychosocial development, reference group affiliation, social stratification, oppression, and institutional discrimination. It will provide implications for social work practice. Additional Course Description: Diversity in the richness of its many dimensions is examined in this course. A primary focus will be given to ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, social class, and disability. Concepts, theories, research, personal experiences and practice principles, pertaining to psychosocial development, identity formation, group processes, institutional discrimination, class stratification, society and culture, guide this examination.
