FLSA Status: Exempt Hours: As determined by department/chair Job Type: Part Time Rank: PTI/Adjunct Campus: Syracuse, NY Unionized Position Code: UA Job Description: The Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs at Syracuse University seeks a part-time instructor to teach an open section of Sociology 318- Introduction to Research for 3 credits, Winterlude 12/16/26-1/8/27 online. Course Description: Techniques and problems of research in the social sciences. Research design, measurement, and data collection using surveys and other techniques. Computer analysis skills for social science data. Research project. Qualifications: A minimum of an MA in Sociology or a closely related discipline. Preference will be given to ABD and PhD level students from our program and instructors who have taught for us previously. Job Specific Qualifications: Responsibilities: Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date. Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Meeting all designated class periods. Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
