The Appellate Litigation Clinic is seeking applications for a two-year fellowship beginning in the summer of 2026! Please read below for a description of the fellowship and for application submission information. Clinic and Fellowship Overview The Appellate Litigation Clinic at Georgetown Law seeks applicants for a two-year fellowship in appellate advocacy. Working in collaboration with the Clinic Director, the fellow will take the lead on litigating public-interest appeals before federal courts of appeals and, on occasion, the U.S. Supreme Court. The clinic accepts appointments to represent indigent clients in appeals that address a broad range of issues, including civil rights, criminal defense, habeas, and immigration. The fellow will work on all aspects of an appeal and will supervise student teams in a collaborative learning environment. The fellow will also have the opportunity to argue at least one case before a federal appellate court. Former fellows have gone on to pursue careers in appellate advocacy, civil rights impact litigation, criminal defense, and academia. The clinic is comprised of Professor Erica Hashimoto, the clinic director; two graduate teaching fellows; and sixteen third-year full-time or fourth-year evening students. Students participate in the clinic for the full year (both fall and spring semesters). The fellow will serve as a supervising attorney to two or three student teams each year and will work closely with students to improve their written and oral advocacy throughout the appeal. The fellow may also co-supervise cases with the director or the other clinic fellow. Fellows may also be asked to handle cases that are held over from previous years. Mentorship and collaboration are important aspects of the Appellate Litigation Clinic experience.
