About this position

The University of Chicago Department of Mathematics invites applications for a position at the rank of Assistant Instructional Professor. This is a non-tenure-track appointment, eligible for reappointment and promotion through the Instructional Professor ranks. Initial appointments at this rank are for a term of up to three years. A collective bargaining agreement between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the University governs the terms and conditions of employment for this position. The expected start date is September 1, 2027. Position responsibilities typically include teaching six one-quarter courses per year, sustaining a professional development program that supports the educational mission of the Department, and contributing to the University's teaching mission through non-classroom instructional duties, service duties, or both. Salary range: $93,500–$97,500 for a nine-month academic appointment, paid over twelve months. This position is benefits-eligible.
