Job Description Summary Organization's Summary Statement: Adjunct Faculty for the Department of English and Modern Languages Adjunct faculty members are needed for the Department of English and Modern Languages at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). For Fall 2025, the department seeks candidates who can teach on campus in Princess Anne, Maryland. We are specifically seeking instructors for socio-linguistics courses and digital humanities courses. Occasionally the department might need instructors who can teach online. Responsibilities: •Teaching responsibilities may include courses in Composition 1 and 2, Technical Writing, and Speech. •Qualified instructors may also teach other courses as needed in our literature, linguistics, English education, or digital media tracks. Requirements

• Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in the discipline
• Exceptional candidates with a BA in the discipline and 5+ years of industry/professional experience in the discipline may be considered for production-oriented courses
• At least one year of college teaching experience in the discipline as Instructor of Record
• Experience teaching with a Learning Management System (such as Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: •Ability to use technology in the classroom to enhance student learning
