The workload compensation upon entry currently ranges from $2,163.36 to $3,302.80 per workload unit, depending upon pl Position Description: Part-time instructional faculty Job Duties: Teach or co-teach one or more of the following postsecondary-level courses: PHST 20: The Filipino Family PHST 30: Philippine Culture and Society through Film PHST 39A: Philippine Literature PHST 39B: Filipino Literature in the Diaspora PHST 40: Contemporary Issues in the Filipino Diaspora PHST 42: Introduction to Philippine Arts PHST 50: Filipinx LGBTQ+ Identities and Culture Teach in accordance with department course outlines, established instructional practices, and college and department policies. Prepared to teach in-person. Faculty desiring to teach online are required to complete training before being scheduled to teach an online class. Faculty who have completed online training outside of CCSF can apply for online training equivalency. Perform duties associated with instruction and assessment of student progress, including developing course syllabi and instructional materials; grading and record-keeping; submitting census reports and grades; assessing student learning outcomes; preparing lesson plans; facilitating classroom activities; and implementing technology-enhanced teaching practices, as appropriate. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other academic units and departments in developing courses, assignments, rubrics, assessments, instructional materials, interdisciplinary projects, and student outreach initiatives. Collaborate with department faculty and the Curriculum Committee to revise existing curriculum and develop new courses that reflect current scholarship in Philippine Studies and respond to the educational needs of our students and communities. Maintain and submit required instructional and administrative documents-including syllabi, census reports, grades, and other records-in a timely and accurate manner. Hold scheduled office hours and provide appropriate academic support and guidance to students. Teach day, evening, and/or Saturday classes; online and/or hybrid courses; and classes offered at one or more of the College's centers, as assigned. Actively participate in departmental initiatives that increase course enrollment, promote student engagement and success, and address and close student equity gaps. Support and implement culturally responsive, inclusive, and anti-racist teaching practices that promote student success and address educational equity gaps. Participate in ongoing professional development and training related to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism to inform and strengthen pedagogical practices. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications:Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required). Earned Master's in African-American/Black/Africana Studies or Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, or Asian-American Studies, or Native American/ American Indian Studies from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT; OR Earned Master's in Ethnic Studies from an accredited institution: OR THE EQUIVALENT. This form will be considered as part of the application materials and must be submitted on or before the filing deadline as indicated on this job posting.] Desirable Qualifications: Master's Degree in Ethnic Studies from an accredited institution OR the equivalent, with an emphasis or significant coursework, research, or professional preparation in areas such as literature, politics, education, art, humanities, social sciences, or behavioral sciences as it is related to the Philippine/Filipino American experience. Demonstrated experience working with diverse communities on issues affecting underrepresented and/or marginalized communities, including experience with community-based organizations, cultural organizations, educational institutions, advocacy organizations, religious organizations, or social justice organizations. Demonstrated ability to facilitate discussions of sensitive, complex, and/or controversial topics in an inclusive, respectful, culturally responsive, and participatory learning environment. One to two years of teaching experience at the community college and/or four-year university level. Graduate-level coursework, research, scholarship, or professional preparation in a discipline that demonstrates knowledge and expertise in Ethnic Studies and/or Philippine Studies. One to two years of teaching experience in courses with substantial Philippine Studies content. Demonstrated successful instructional experience at a community college or university using culturally responsive and inclusive pedagogical practices. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience addressing inequities in higher education, with a commitment to identifying and addressing institutional policies and practices that create barriers to access, persistence, and success for historically marginalized and disproportionately impacted students.
