The workload compensation upon entry currently ranges from $2,163.36 to $3,302.80 per workload unit, depending upon pl Position Description: The Cinema Department is seeking enthusiastic and qualified candidates to teach one or more production courses and/or non-instructional assignment in our equipment Issue Room/Mac Lab. At this time, the department has a particular need for a temporary instructor in Basic Film Production, Cinematography & Lighting and applicants interested working in our Issue Room. As part of the application, applicants must clearly indicate which one or more of the department's teaching areas they wish to be considered for and if they are interested in working in the Issue Room. Applicants will be considered only for the course(s) they explicitly identify. Applicants must select specific course(s) from those listed in the Job Duties below and, in a detailed letter of interest, explain how their qualifications, professional experience, and teaching background prepare them to teach the selected course(s) and/or work in the Equipment Issue Room. Teach in-person on Ocean campus in one or more of the following post-secondary level courses and/or Non-Instructional Assignment in the department's Equipment Issue Room: CINE 24 Basic Film Production CINE 25 Narrative Filmmaking CINE 30 Production Planning CINE 40 Professional Development & Film Exhibition CINE 54 Cinematography & Lighting CINE 56 Introduction to Digital Film Editing CINE 57 Experimental Filmmaking CINE 60 Sound for Motion Pictures I CINE 61 Sound for Motion Pictures II CINE 72 Documentary Pre-Production CINE 74 Advanced Cinematography & Lighting CINE 75A Introduction to Screenwriting CINE 75B/C Intermediate/Advanced Screenwriting CINE 126 Documentary Filmmaking CINE 131 Intro to Directing CINE 136 Special Effects CINE 170 Film/Video Work Experience Non-Instructional Assignment in the Issue RoomDesign and implement instructional activities and assessments for courses offered in online, hybrid and/or in-person modalities in lecture and lab formats. Courses should promote student learning and achievement equitably, in accordance with approved department course outlines and curriculum. Collaborate with department colleagues to develop, assess, and report Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and surveys in accordance with department needs and college requirements. Teach in accordance with departmental course outlines and design instructional activities that promote achievement of student learning outcomes. May support instruction-related activities by participating in meetings, program review, curriculum, assessment, and industry advisory meetings as time and schedule permit. Maintain industry contact; keep abreast of evolving technologies, and share information and insights with the department. Support and engage in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps. Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racist pedagogy. Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair. Minimum Qualifications:Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Earned Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent foreign degree, plus two years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's assignment; OR THE EQUIVALENT; OR Earned Associate Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent foreign degree, plus six years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's assignment; OR THE EQUIVALENT. This form will be considered as part of the application materials and must be submitted on or before the filing deadline as indicated on this job posting.] Desirable Qualifications:MFA or MA in Cinema or Film Production. Three or more years (6 semesters/9 quarters) of teaching experience with an emphasis in audio, film/video or multimedia production, in an accredited post-secondary institution. Graduate teaching assistantships or the equivalent may be considered as experience. Experience in two or more crew roles for film, commercial or series projects that have theatrical, broadcast, streaming, and/or festival distribution. Experience/familiarity with film equipment inventory systems; experience operating/handling professional cameras (film and digital), lighting, and audio systems; experience troubleshooting industry standard software (ProTools, Adobe Premiere, Da Vinci Resolve Pro, etc.) in a Mac environment; and/or experience in an equipment issue room or rental house environment supporting instruction or industry using WebCheckout or industry standard inventory management/checkout system. Maintain a professional network in the industry and keeps up to date with technology updates/issues impacting production methods and applications. Readiness to work in-person in the Cinema facilities at Ocean campus as directed for morning, afternoon, evening assignment. Experience with grants and resource development. Experience with accessible design and use of Canvas Learning Management System for course materials and assignment submission.
