Salary: $25.00 - $30.00 Hourly Job Number: 01661 Department: Continuing Education - Main Campus Transitional and Career Studies Opening Date: 10/08/2026 General Function The ESL Instructor will teach English to students at various skills levels and backgrounds. QualificationsBachelor's degree from an institution accredited by a federally recognized institutional accreditor is required; master's degree preferred At least one year of experience teaching adult learners TESOL certified preferred Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to engage students at various English levels Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet Experience working with College and Career Readiness/Basic Skills Programs is preferred Working ConditionsTypical classroom environment Frequent standing for several hours throughout the day Bending, stooping, reaching, crouching, and kneeling Lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs. without assistance Sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone and computer Essential Functions and Responsibilities The duties of the ESL Instructor (Part-time) include, but are not limited to:Organize and execute lesson plans using multiple modalities and technologies Motivate students to participate and attend class Maintain an acceptable rate of student growth as measured by gains in Educational Functioning Levels (EFL) or other Measurable Skill Gains (MSG) Report and evaluate students' progress Establish positive relationships with students and communicate expectations to ensure progress and participation Complete and/or correct student data input or other important information as requested by program staff Attend professional development as required by the Transitional and Career Studies Program Direct students to resources and additional support to ensure success and retention Meet deadlines for required paperwork Establish and follow meaningful learning objectives using the English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education (ELP) Use data from testing and formative assessment to plan instruction Modify instructional methods and strategies as necessary to meet diverse student needs Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned Maintain accurate attendance records and enter student hours into ADVANSYS Notice of Nondiscrimination Lenoir Community College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
