About this position

The College Core Curriculum (https://cas.nyu.edu/core.html) at New York University invites applications for visiting lecturer appointments, with the rank of Lecturer, to begin September 1, 2026, pending administrative and budgetary approval. We are seeking to hire recent NYU graduates with a strong record of teaching. These are full-time, non-tenure track, one-year appointments in either the Foundations of Scientific Inquiry or Foundations of Contemporary Culture. The primary instructional responsibilities are attending lectures of Core courses led by full-time faculty instructors-of-record, leading recitation or laboratory sections associated with these courses, and grading. Over the academic year, the teaching load is a total of six recitation sections, or the equivalent, which is typically a First-Year Seminar taught as instructor-of-record; and course relief is also available for planning and leading the Core orientation sessions and the teaching and learning colloquium. Review of applications will begin on November 1, 2025, and continue until positions are filled. Compensation: In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary for this position is $60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Successful applicants will have demonstrated effectiveness as college-level teachers, and will have completed their dissertation defense by August 1, 2026.
