Posting Number: Fac0455P Status of Position Adjunct FacultyUnion: Adjunct Position Summary We are seeking experienced adjunct faculty to teach general education Humanities and Philosophy courses starting spring 2027. Successful candidates will have a desire to engage a diverse student population in the study of world religions, world mythology, and foundational texts in the history of philosophy. Anticipated courses open for spring semester with a start date of January 11, 2027 include: HUMAN 101 Comparative Religions (MW 8 am, 11 am, TTH 9:30 am, 12:30 pm) HUMAN 201 Humanities Themes: Myth, Reason, God (TTH 8 am, 11 am) PHILO 101 Introduction to Philosophy (TTH 9:30 am, 11 am) PHILO 202 Ethics (TTH 9:30 am, 5 pm)Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in Humanities, Philosophy, or Literature or a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in a Humanities discipline. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Commitment to the mission of community colleges. Able to teach courses on the Prairie State College Campus. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching a variety of philosophy and humanities courses. Teaching experience at the community college level. Credentialed to teach in the online format. Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds. Graduate work beyond the Master's.
