Posting Number: Fac0456P Status of Position Adjunct FacultyUnion: Adjunct Position Summary Prairie State College seeks student-centered adjunct faculty to teach Composition I (English 101) and Composition II (English 102) both online and in person at our Chicago Heights campus during the Spring 2027 semester. Local candidates are strongly preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate the following: excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a flexible, student-centered approach to teaching writing; the ability to engage a diverse student population; and familiarity with research/scholarship concerning pedagogy and the community college environment. The English Department offers a collegial and supportive faculty peer environment, with opportunities for substantive faculty development. Anticipated start date: January 2027Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in English or a closely related discipline, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in English.Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching at the community college level is strongly preferred. Priority will be given to candidates with graduate coursework and/or training in the teaching of writing.Salary: Adjunct faculty members at PSC are paid by the number of hours they are in the classroom (contact hours).
