Position: Adjunct Lecturer - Introductory Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry Department: Physical Sciences Classification: Part-time, Non-benefit eligible Rate: $1400 per contact hour (with a terminal degree) and $1200 per contact hour (without a terminal degree). This compensation is per contact hour and is subject to change based on class size. Brief overview of duties: The Physical Sciences Department is seeking qualified applicants for an adjunct faculty position teaching Introductory Organic Chemistry and Introduction to Biochemistry at our Mesa, Arizona campus during the Spring 2027 semester. This in-person teaching assignment consists of two consecutive 8-week courses taught within the traditional 16-week spring semester. These courses primarily serve students pursuing degrees in the Allied Health-Nutrition major. Introductory Organic Chemistry (2 Credit Hours | 8-Week 1 Course) An introduction to the structure, nomenclature, and reactions of organic compounds, with emphasis on functional groups relevant to biological systems. The course provides foundational concepts that support further study in biochemistry and the health sciences. Introduction to Biochemistry (2 Credit Hours | 8-Week 2 Course) An introduction to the structures and properties of carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, proteins, and enzymes, as well as the fundamental pathways of energy metabolism.
