Carnegie Mellon University: Heinz College Location: Los Angeles, CA Description: Carnegie Mellon University seeks an instructor to teach How Entertainment Makes Decisions: Lessons from Gaming. The course explores how entertainment companies decide what audiences want, what to make, what to change, and when to take a risk? This three-session course explores how entertainment teams make decisions when audience behavior, data, creative judgment, business priorities, and organizational realities do not always point in the same direction. Using the video game industry as a case study, students will examine audience insights, data, experimentation, decision-making under uncertainty, and cross-functional collaboration, with lessons that can be applied across film, television, music, agencies, and other entertainment businesses. By the end of this course, students will be able to:Interpret audience behavior and feedback to identify meaningful problems and opportunities. Evaluate competing creative, audience, and business priorities using data, experimentation, and strategic judgment. Make decisions under uncertainty when quantitative, qualitative, creative, and business signals conflict. Communicate recommendations effectively across creative, technical, marketing, publishing, and leadership teams. Salary Range: $3000-$3500. Note: course number does not exist Qualifications: Master degree preferred or extensive entertainment experience
