Carnegie Mellon University: Heinz College Location: Los Angeles, CA Description: The Master of Entertainment Industry Management (MEIM) program at Carnegie Mellon University seeks an instructor to teach Introduction to Writing for Television. This introductory class will focus on the fundamentals of writing for television with an emphasis on pitching and writing a television pilot. In addition to covering style and format, emphasis will be given to story ideas, outlines, structure, and marketability. Students will identify the differences of writing for TV versus writing for films, analyze different television formats with an emphasis on limited series (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple +, etc.), examine what makes marketable characters or stories, create and revise an outline, analyze the content and structure of a pilot episode, and complete the first act of an original pilot. Ideal candidates will bring significant expertise in writing and writing specifically for television along with an understanding of U.S. scripted content, U.S. networks and distributors, and streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon. Salary Range: $6500-7500/ Note course number already exists 93-860 - though course title will change. Qualifications: Master and Entertainment Industry Management Experience
