Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring an adjunct instructor in the Adult Basic Education Program. The Reading/English/Mathematics Instructors are responsible for providing a quality learning environment to College and Career Readiness students. The faculty members provide instruction and complete other duties and responsibilities in accordance with the mission and policies of the college. ***This posting is part of a pool recruitment process, which means we are collecting applications for potential openings that may arise during the academic year. Please note: This position may not be for an immediate need. Instead, your application will be kept on file and reviewed as opportunities become available. Pool positions are used to identify qualified candidates in advance, allowing us to fill roles more efficiently when vacancies occur. Conducts assigned classes in accordance with the C&CR course descriptions and the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Develop lesson plans based on the NC Adult Basic Education Content Standards and instruct students in person and virtually to ensure student success. Use a variety of instructional technologies such as smart phones, clickers, computers, and digital imaging to provide contemporary presentations in the classroom. Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interest and learning styles of students. Maintains professional competence by participating in professional development opportunities and incorporating them into instruction. Maintain student records, forms, process reports, and all other required paperwork in a punctual and efficient manner. Assist with the registration process and academic advisement of students. Be available to teach both day and evening classes, asynchronous and synchronous classes, and off campus classes as part of the regularly assigned teaching load. - Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interest and learning styles of students
- Must complete mandatory training
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in instructional discipline, or related field is required
