About this position
The Fine Arts Department at Central Texas College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor - Ceramics. This position will also require teaching a 3-D Design course. Courses are offered in a face-to-face format. Adjunct (part-time), semester-based employment with compensation based on course load and institutional pay schedule. Education and Experience : Education and Experience: Master’s Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education with 18 graduate hours in Visual Arts (Ceramics) required. Programs should be from a research-based university. Minimum requirements would be 18 graduate credits in Visual Arts including course work that aligns with Ceramics. Experience in ceramic art, including relevant studio techniques and processes such as hand-building, throwing, and other techniques as it relates to the design and production of ceramic sculpture and pottery. Prefer college level teaching experience in Visual Arts. Prefer Additional professional artistic experience through exhibitions or residencies. Knowledge Skills and Ability : Effective classroom management and student engagement skills. Provide in-person instruction on ceramic hand-building techniques, throwing, glazing and surfacing of assigned pieces, concept development, and ceramic terminology for assigned courses. This includes preparation for in-class activities, evaluation of students' work, and regular consultation with students both in and outside of class and/or on-line Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Demonstrated ability to teach subject matter through education, experience and skills. Commitment to working with diverse and under a prepared student population. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to explain complex concepts in accessible ways. Knowledge of academic integrity standards and college-level expectations.
