Adjunct Faculty - Accounting Category: Faculty Department: Business, Aviation and Construction Professions Locations: Poughkeepsie, NY Position ID: 206473 The Department of Business, Aviation, and Construction Professions at Dutchess Community College (DCC) invites applications for part-time faculty in the Accounting Program. The department is seeking qualified instructors to teach one or more of the following courses:ACC 104 - Financial Accounting (4 credits) ACC 204 - Managerial Accounting (4 credits) ACC 205 - Computerized Accounting - QuickBooks (3 credits) ACC 215 - Excel for Accounting (3 credits) Courses are taught in Traditional/In-Person, Hybrid, and Asynchronous Online instructional formats. In-person classes are offered at the College's main campus in Poughkeepsie and at DCC@Fishkill, the Center of Excellence for Business, Industry, and Innovation (COEBII). Classes are scheduled during daytime and evening hours, with daytime availability preferred. Part-time faculty are responsible for teaching assigned course material in accordance with course learning outcomes and departmental standards. Faculty are expected to engage students through effective instructional practices and maintain current expertise in accounting principles, accounting technology, and business practices. Job Requirements: Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related field; or a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business with at least five (5) years of relevant professional accounting experience.Official transcripts required upon hire Experience in one or more areas of accounting, including financial accounting, managerial accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, taxation, auditing, or accounting software applications such as QuickBooks. Demonstrated academic preparation in accounting. Experience teaching at the college level or relevant professional accounting experience. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Preferred QualificationsCertified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or other relevant professional credential. Experience teaching Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and/or accounting software applications such as QuickBooks. Experience teaching at a community college. Demonstrated competency in a variety of teaching methodologies and pedagogical approaches that support student success. Understanding and appreciation of the mission of a community college and its diverse student population. Experience using instructional technology and a willingness to adopt emerging educational technologies. Experience with learning management systems (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas. Professional letters of reference are required. Working Conditions:The performance of this work is done primarily in-person and on-site or remote, depending on instructional mode. Courses are held at the main campus in Poughkeepsie and at COEBII at DCC@Fishkill. Courses are held in the daytime and the evenings. Classification:Dutchess United Educators (DUE), Part-Time Educator Part-Time faculty positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Dutchess Community College (DCC) and Dutchess United Educations (DUE).
