Be the First to Apply Job Description Job Summary The Surgery Director for the Center for Surgical Innovation & Training (CSIT) provides clinical and educational leadership for the center's surgical education and simulation-based training programs. This position works closely with the Director of CSIT to design, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve simulation-based training experiences for surgeons, operating room teams, medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals. The Surgery Director bridges the gap between classroom learning and hands-on surgical practice by developing realistic surgical scenarios, facilitating simulation activities, providing instruction and debriefing, and assessing learner competency. The position supports the development of technical and non-technical skills, including procedural proficiency, clinical decision-making, crisis management, teamwork, communication, and patient safety. The position also provides leadership in the operational and strategic management of the simulation laboratory, including equipment and technology integration, resource allocation, vendor and IT coordination, budgeting, grant support, compliance, and long-term program planning. The Surgery Director assists in ensuring that CSIT programs and operations meet applicable professional and accreditation standards, including standards established by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). In addition to CSIT leadership responsibilities, the Surgery Director serves as an Anatomy Instructor and participates in traditional anatomy education, including head and neck, musculoskeletal anatomy of the extremities, and thoracic and abdominopelvic anatomy. The position facilitates case-based anatomy sessions, prepares donor specimens and instructional technology, assists with laboratory setup, and identifies relevant anatomical structures and pathology to enhance student learning.
