<div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>Job Summary</b></H2> </div><div><p>Tutors will assist students in learning how to solve problems independently, aid students in utilization of appropriate resources to further their understanding of mathematical concepts, and exemplify the behavior of a successful Purdue student. Tutors will provide support and encouragement for students in a variety of standard mathematics courses and foster a productive academic atmosphere. Standard mathematics is considered College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II. All tutors are expected to assist students on a drop-in basis during their indicated working hours (which may include Sunday afternoons or weekday evenings). Approx 5-10 hrs/week. You may attach unofficial transcripts to application. </p> <p>Responsibilities<br>• Provide student support in standard mathematics courses through drop-in tutoring sessions during tutor-specified operating hours in ET 003 at Purdue University in Indianapolis. All tutoring is in-person.<br>• Present practice exercises to students and facilitate individual/small group discussion of solution options<br>• Examine and appropriately identify any potential for improvement on existing student work<br>• Maintain personal understanding of course concepts and topics to best facilitate learning<br>• Identify appropriate study resources and practices and present recommendations to students<br>• Engage in ongoing professional development including semester trainings, supervisor check-ins, and team meetings</p> <p>Required Qualifications<br>• Purdue student studying in Indianapolis<br>• Minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0<br>• Achieved an A- or higher in the Purdue MA 261 Multivariable Calculus course<br>• A fluent understanding of College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II concepts and material<br>• Excellent commun
