Architecture Section Head Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture The Ohio State University The Ohio State University invites applications for the position of Architecture Section Head in the Austin E. Knowlton School. The Section Head provides academic and administrative leadership for the Architecture section and works with faculty, the Knowlton School Director, and College of Engineering leadership to support excellence in teaching, scholarship, and student success. This position will start as early as Fall 2027. Position Overview The Architecture Section Head is expected to be a collaborative, effective academic leader who can support faculty, staff, and students; strengthen the architecture program; steward section resources responsibly; and advance the mission of the Knowlton School. This is a tenured position with a work allocation of 30% Research, 30% Teaching, and 40% Service. The Architecture Section is one of three discipline-based sections within the Austin E. Knowlton School, alongside Landscape Architecture and City and Regional Planning. Located in the award-winning Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects-designed building on The Ohio State University’s Columbus Campus, the Knowlton School fosters an environment for innovative design research and critical inquiry. The Architecture section comprises approximately 400 students and 35 full-time and part-time faculty members. Performance Objectives The Architecture Section Head will be expected to provide effective leadership in the following areas: Academic and Strategic Leadership: · promoting and improving individual programs within the architecture section and establishing relationships with the other sections in the school · recruiting students and supporting the admissions process Faculty Appointment and Development Leadership: · supporting faculty scholarship, creative achievement, and educational investigations · recruiting faculty and supporting faculty candidates for tenure and promo
