Position Summary The Department of Political Science at the University of Rochester invites applications for part-time Adjunct Faculty positions. Adjunct faculty teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Political Science on a semester-by-semester basis, depending on departmental instructional needs and enrollment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and student engagement while contributing to the Department's educational mission. Responsibilities • Teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Political Science. • Develop and maintain course syllabi that align with departmental and University learning objectives. • Prepare and deliver high-quality instruction through lectures, discussions, and other instructional activities. • Evaluate student learning through assignments, examinations, and other assessments, and submit grades in accordance with University deadlines. • Maintain regular communication with students and provide appropriate academic support through office hours or other scheduled availability. • Utilize the University's learning management system and instructional technologies to support teaching and student learning. • Adhere to University and departmental policies regarding instruction, academic integrity, accessibility, and student privacy. • Perform other instructional duties as appropriate to the appointment. Qualifications: Required • Master's degree in Political Science or a closely related field by the time of appointment. • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in the area(s) of instruction. • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Preferred • Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related discipline. • Previous experience teaching at the college or university level. • Evidence of effective, inclusive teaching practices. • Experience using instructional technologies and learning management systems.
