Montgomery College is accepting applications for a part‑time faculty member in English and Reading. The position is based in Rockville, Takoma Park, Silver Spring, and Germantown. Responsibilities • Teach English composition classes and support student success. • Administer a varied schedule of courses on campus, including day, night, weekend, and accelerated sections; some sections may be taught at local high schools. • Deliver instruction in a range of modalities, primarily in person but also online. • Provide students detailed written and verbal feedback on their writing. • Grade and provide feedback to students in a timely manner to monitor mastery and progress. • Participate in general education assessment for selected English courses. • Complete required professional development training, including training in Blackboard and structured remote course delivery. • Follow department guidelines to ensure consistent content coverage and student experience across multiple sections and meet course objectives. • Communicate promptly with students, course coordinators, and department chair. • Meet established deadlines to submit student mid‑term and final course grades. • Perform other duties as assigned by the department chair. • Optionally serve as embedded academic coach supporting the Achieving the Promise Academy, which partners with the English Department to help students succeed. • Eligible to teach up to 11.5 equivalent semester hours (ESH) per semester or 23 ESH per academic year; during summer up to 10 ESH for both sessions combined. Required Qualifications • Master’s degree in English, Reading, Rhetoric, or a closely related field. • Proficiency with and ability to use the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) and other web‑based instructional technology. • Demonstrated experience teaching using a variety of delivery methods, online resources, and technology applications across the curriculum. • Commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicul
