Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months' salary unless otherwise specified. Job Type: Part Time Rank: PTI/Adjunct Campus: Syracuse, NY Unionized Position Code: Not Applicable Job Description: The College of Law is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a 2-credit course, Advanced Legal Topics - Mediation Skills, in its residential program. This applied learning skills-based course explores the stages of mediation in a variety of substantive law areas, including personal injury, landlord/tenant, commercial and contract disputes, labor relations, consumer claims, and court-annexed processes. Mediation preparation, strategies, competencies, and ethics are examined and practiced through individual and team advocacy simulations from the perspectives of client, attorney, and neutral. Drafting of essential settlement and related documents is also a primary focus of the class. Qualifications: Candidates should have an excellent academic record and should hold a JD degree from an accredited law school. Preferred post-JD experience and credentials should include significant legal practice in diverse areas of law, including mediation and alternative dispute resolution. A demonstrated commitment to excellent classroom teaching is required. Prior law school teaching is strongly preferred. Candidates must have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues
