Lecture - MSW 540: Field Instruction I (Fall 2026) Job No: 560180 Work Type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer Locations: San Marcos Categories: Unit 3 - CFA - California Faculty Association, Faculty - Social Sciences, Temporary, Part Time MSW 540: Field Instruction I Position: Lecturer Semester: Fall 2026 Day/Time: Tuesdays, from 8:30 to 10:20 a.m. Modality: Hybrid College: College of Education of Health and Human Services Department: Department of Social Work The Department of Social Work at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for fall 2026 to teach MSW 540 Field Instruction I. The course is a 3-unit class, has one 2-hour class each week of the 15-week semester, and is taught in a hybrid format (half of the courses will be online and the others are in-person at the San Marcos campus). The course is scheduled for Tuesdays 8:30am-10:20am and also involves site visits with student practicum agencies. Course Description First course of a foundation two-semester sequence. Supervised practice in a social services or related agency developing basic micro, mezzo, and macro skills with an emphasis on culturally informed social work practice. Field seminar and 16 hours weekly supervised agency field experience. Minimum qualifications: A Master of Social Work degree Five (5) years of post-MSW experience. Five (5) years of applicable post-MSW full-time practice experience working in direct practice social work settings. Experience in supervising MSW students/recent MSW graduates in a social service setting. Per the California State University's Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working within the State of California is a condition of employment. Preferred qualifications: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure. A doctoral degree in Social Work or in a closely related field. Experience in teaching university classes and with instruction
