About this position

The Department of Physiology & Biophysics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine seeks a qualified candidate to fill a faculty position at the rank of Instructor (non-tenure track). The Instructor will lead and support research projects focused on mitochondrial dysfunction and proteostasis in neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson's disease and ALS, and related disorders. The Instructor will design and execute mechanistic and translational research studies, mentor trainees, assist with laboratory management and contribute to grant writing and manuscript preparation. The position is intended for individuals pursuing an academic research career and provides opportunities to develop independent research projects and apply for external funding. The Instructor will: • Design and perform cell and molecular biology experiments to investigate mechanisms of mitochondrial dysfunction, protein aggregation, and neurodegeneration. • Conduct biochemical and cell biological experiments, including immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, immunoflourescence microscopy, mitochondrial functional assays, and protein interaction studies. • Analyze complex datasets, including proteomics, transcriptomics, mitochondrial functional data, chemical compounds and peptide database, and animal behavioral and pathological data. • Lead research projects, prepare study proposals, and manage project timelines. • Summarize and present research findings at lab meetings and scientific conferences. • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals. • Contribute to grant writing and is expected to apply for extramural funding as PI (e.g. NIH K series/R series or foundation grants). • Assist the Principal Investigator in laboratory management and collaborative research projects, including industry collaborations and translational research programs.
