Title: GA Teaching - Technology - Spring 2027 Division Name: Academic Affairs Department: Technology Campus Location: Normal, IL Job Summary The primary duties of a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) are to support instruction and student learning. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Serve as a primary or secondary instructor for a course or laboratory. Assist faculty with teaching-related activities and instructional responsibilities. Grade assignments, examinations, and other coursework requiring knowledge of the subject matter taught in a course or laboratory. Meet with and tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and provide instructional support during classes and laboratory sessions. Specific duties and responsibilities may include:Grading and evaluating student work. Providing individual or small-group tutoring and academic support. Leading problem-solving, review, or discussion sessions. Delivering lectures or otherwise serving as an instructor for a course. Salary Rate / Pay Rate $1510 for .50 FTE Required QualificationsEligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in the Technology Program. For teaching assistant positions, state law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position. You must be eligible for employment in the United States and at Illinois State University and/or for the number of hours required for the position. Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session. Please contact the Office of International Student and Scholar Services for guidance on visa restrictions on work hours. The University cannot grant exceptions to visa status rules/laws.
