Full Consideration Date: 10/5/2026 Job Description: The University of Northern Iowa's School of Public Affairs and Service seeks applications for a temporary Assistant Adjunct Professor of Political Science position, starting in January 2027. This position will teach POLSCI 5171 Public Budgeting and Financial Management, a required course in our Master of Public Policy (MPP) program. The fully online class meets synchronously by Zoom on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:50 p.m. This course examines the budgetary process across multiple levels of government, including discussion of the budget cycle, operating and capital budgets, the functions of the budget office, and performance measures for public budgeting. Instructors will help students engage with real-life budgetary data and learn to produce professional analyses based on the data and other course materials. The MPP program is accredited by NASPAA, the global standard in public service education. This course meets a key program learning outcome linked to accreditation standards: "Use tools, methods of policy analysis to analyze policy problems." This position is eligible to be performed remotely within the state of Iowa. Employees who elect remote work must comply with the requirements of our remote work policy and agreement. Required Qualifications: Master's degree in political science, public policy, public administration, or related field is required. Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a practitioner in the field of public budgeting / finance preferred.
