For further information, visit www.raritanval.edu. Raritan Valley Community College is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for teaching Mechatronics in our Advanced Manufacturing department. The instructor will teach mechatronics courses through hands-on demonstrations and lab-based instruction. The instructor prepares lesson plans, delivers lectures, supervises lab activities, and ensures safe use of manual mills, lathes, and related equipment. Responsibilities include assessing student performance, providing feedback, maintaining grade and attendance records, and aligning course content with industry standards and college guidelines. The role also involves collaborating with faculty on curriculum updates, participating in departmental meetings, and supporting outreach to local employers and workforce programs. Relevant academic preparation, such as a bachelor's or higher degree in Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. Solid knowledge of mechatronics, including mechanical systems, electrical/electronic fundamentals, industrial automation, and controls. Experience with lab-based instruction and safe operation of tools, instruments, and equipment commonly used in mechatronics and related technologies. Strong teaching, coaching, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to learners with varied backgrounds. Ability to design and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons, assessments, and learning activities aligned with program outcomes. Commitment to inclusive, student-centered instruction and support for learners from diverse cultures, identities, and academic preparation levels. Organizational and time-management skills necessary to handle part-time teaching responsibilities and meet grading and reporting deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: Industry or applied experience in manufacturing, automation, robotics, or similar environments; community college teaching experience is a plus. Prior teaching or instructional experience in a community college, technical school, or workforce training environment. OSHA-10 certification or willingness to obtain.
