About this position

The Department of English and Creative Writing in the College of Arts and Sciences at Widener University invites applications for the position of adjunct professor of English (first-year writing). Applicants must have experience teaching first-year writing and be dedicated to working collaboratively in a department and university that values diversity. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to): Essential duties: Teaching one-three courses (depending on need) in Fall 2025 (ENGL 101 and/or introduction to literature courses, depending on need) Creating syllabi and assignments designed to hone writing, research, and critical thinking skills Emphasizing writing as a process through peer review, actionable feedback on drafts, student-instructor conferences, etc. Evaluating student work based on course goals Holding 4 office hours per week MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required): Required: MA or above in English, Rhetoric/Composition, Creative Writing, or a related field.
