I have developed and taught intensive classes for professionals, human services paraprofessional and laypeople in mental health awareness, peer support, crisis support skills and suicide prevention for most of the last seven years. I have been a guest presenter at many field and research conferences including as keynote and panelist including both APAs, the National Academies of Science, Suicide Prevention Australia, the Obama White House, etc.

I love inspiring people to examine their own mental and emotional processes as well as the many areas that intersect between psychology, mental health and social services, social policy and related public health issues (such as suicide death). My style of lecturing involves integrating stories and events with didactic content and interacting through multiple media approaches as students consider material, respond to exercises (especially realistic and scenario based experiential content) and develop their own perspectives on issues which are challenging and/or controversial. Since I am a professional trainer who works wiht multiple LMS tools I favor the development of specific lesson plans and exercises (including in class experiential exercises) that bring learning to life and incorporate their own lived experience wherever possible.
