About this position

The Center for Middle East Studies at Brown University is seeking applications for a full-time Arabic language instructor at all levels for the Spring 2027 semester. Responsibilities will include teaching three (3) Arabic language classes. This is a one-semester Visiting Lecturer appointment, with the possibility of renewal for an additional semester contingent on programmatic need, performance, and the availability of funds. Qualifications: Applicants should have at least five (5) years of experience teaching Arabic as a second language at the university level. Native or near-native competency in Arabic language and fluency in English are required. Demonstrated proficiency in current second/foreign language teaching methodologies and meaningful application of technologies in language instruction are highly desirable. Preference will be given to applicants who have worked within established Arabic language programs with multiple instructors. The successful candidate will collaborate with the other members of the program to teach and coordinate courses in the language sequence. Additional duties will include advising and community engagement. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
