PT Instructor - Physical Science (Analytical Chemistry) - Continuous Applicant Pool Santa Monica College Salary: See Position Description Job Type: Part Time Faculty Job Number: 00335 Location: 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90405, CA Closing: Job DutiesTeach career technical education (CTE) combined lecture and laboratory course in analytical chemistry instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis) and other chemistry courses as assigned by departmental need, in full alignment with the approved Course Outline of Record. Train students in data acquisition, spectral analysis, calibration curve generation, statistical data treatment, error analysis, and method selection for qualitative and quantitative analysis. Integrate industry-relevant compliance practices into lab workflows, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and accurate laboratory recordkeeping. Supervise student operation of analytical instrumentation and maintain strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols. Enforce and model rigorous safety standards, including the proper use of fume hoods, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hazardous waste management, chemical hygiene plan, and the safe handling/disposal of flammable or toxic reagents. Develop course syllabi with clear Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). Assess student learning through examinations, technical lab reports, problem sets, and/or collaborative final projects; provide timely, constructive feedback to support student career readiness. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to support student learning and skill development. Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, and grades via the College's Learning Management System (LMS). Attend industry advisory board meetings to ensure course content remains aligned with regional workforce needs. Participate in Department and College "Flex Day" activities and professional development. Minimum Qualifications Master's in chemistry OR
