About this position
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site at Fort Meade, MD, for the Psychology program. Specifically, the following course(s): Psychology of Gender (PSYC 338): A survey of the biology, lifespan development, socialization, personality attributes, mental health factors, and special considerations associated with gender. The aim is to apply knowledge of cultural and historical influences relating to gender. Topics include conceptions of gender, gender roles, and gender similarities and differences. Psychology of Stress (PSYC 386): An examination of the forces that define and determine the stress response. The aim is to apply stress management techniques to remediate the negative impact of stress. Stress is studied as the product of the interactions among one's social structure, occupational status, and psychological and physiological levels of well-being. The psychological perspective is examined in relation to the stresses produced in a variety of contexts, such as families and work organizations. Required Education and Experience: Master's degree in Psychology or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning Professional experience in Psychology or related field. Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred. This position is specifically to teach on-site at Fort Meade, MD. Preferred Education and Experience: Terminal degree in Psychology or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning Materials needed for submission Resume/Curriculum Vitae Cover letter highly preferred If selected, candidates with international degrees may be required to submit a translation/degree evaluation from a NACES approved vendor.
