About this position

Princeton University is searching for a faculty member at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Program in Plasma Physics of its Department of Astrophysical Sciences, to begin in fall 2027. While candidates working in all areas of plasma physics are welcome to apply, we are especially interested in candidates whose experimental research programs focus on magnetic confinement fusion (MCF) and who would benefit from the operation of the nation’s largest spherical tokamak, NSTX-U, and future MCF devices at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL). The primary selection criteria will be accomplishment and promise in research, as well as the ability and interest to teach a range of plasma physics courses and to supervise undergraduate and graduate student research projects. Information on departmental resources and research programs can be found at https://plasma.princeton.edu , https://www.pppl.gov , and https://web.astro.princeton.edu . This position is subject to the University’s background check policy. Qualifications: All applicants must have a Ph.D. and a record of research productivity. They must also be committed to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
