About this position

The University of Chicago’s Department of Organismal Biology and Anatomy is seeking a full-time Neuroscientist at the rank of Professor. The appointee will study the neural basis of natural vocal communication in birds and mammals, human speech and voice disorders. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students and scholarly activity. Compensation is dependent upon qualifications. This position is benefits-eligible. The Department of Organismal Biology (OBA) is home to faculty, postdoctoral scholars and students with wide ranging interests in biological structure, function, development and evolution at the level of the organism. Integrative by nature, diverse in its methods, organismal biology is the most exciting and powerful lens through which to explore animal form and function and how they change over the short time frame of an individual’s life history and long-time frame of the history of animal life. OBA’s four primary research areas include Comparative Biomechanics, Evolution and Developmental Biology, Behavioral Neurobiology , and Vertebrate Paleontology . Prior to the start of employment , applicants must have 1) a PhD, MD, or equivalent and 2) qualify for an appointment as Professor with tenure.
