Faculty Position Focused on Teaching and Student Success Professional Practice Assistant Professor Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, College of Engineering The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (https://mae.osu.edu/) at The Ohio State University invites applications for a Professional Practice (non-tenure track) position at the Assistant Professor rank. The successful candidate will contribute to and advance the department’s undergraduate teaching mission through innovative and effective educational practices. This position will start as early as August 2027. Position Overview This teaching-focused position will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across core areas of mechanical engineering, with an emphasis on design and manufacturing including capstone design courses, as well as at least one of thermal sciences, mechanics, or control systems. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development, foster experiential learning, and support student success in alignment with the shared values of Ohio State. Performance Objectives • Teach undergraduate courses in engineering design, including capstone design courses. In addition, teaching courses in one or more core areas of mechanical engineering is expected. The other core areas include: • Manufacturing processes, reliability, and systems • Engineering mechanics (e.g., statics, dynamics, and mechanics of materials) • Thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer with an emphasis on computational approaches • Dynamic systems and control • Develop and update course materials, including lectures, assignments, and laboratory components • Incorporate innovative pedagogical approaches (e.g., active learning, project-based learning, and use of simulation tools including implementation of artificial intelligence models) • Mentor and advise undergraduate students, including design teams and capstone projects • Contribute to assessment and c
