About this position
Overview: The Department of Civil Engineering at Quinnipiac University invites applications for part-time faculty positions to join our team. We have an immediate, high-priority need for instructors capable of teaching an undergraduate-level course in either Hydrology/Hydraulic Design or Construction Management for the Spring 2027 semester. While our urgent hiring focus centers on these two areas, we are also actively building a robust pool of qualified part-time instructors across all major civil engineering subdisciplines. Candidates with expertise in Hydrology/Hydraulics, Construction Management, Site Design, or Structural, Geotechnical, Environmental, or Transportation Engineering are highly encouraged to apply for future teaching opportunities. Course descriptions may be found at: Civil Engineering Courses. About the School/Program: The School of Computing and Engineering offers undergraduate degrees in civil, industrial, mechanical and software engineering, as well as AI & computing and computer science. It also offers graduate degrees in computer science, cybersecurity, and informatics. Dedicated to providing a first-rate engineering learning experience for our students, the school focuses on high-quality instruction, and offers hands-on training, applied learning opportunities and meaningful student-faculty relationships. The current spring semester openings are in day and early evening on-ground sections (some flexibility regarding offering time is possible) for the following courses: CER 350 - Hydrology/Hydraulic Design (3 credits) This course studies both hydrology, which is the study of occurrence, movement and distribution of rainfall, and hydraulic design, which is the application of fluid mechanics, physical science and engineering disciplines in the design of structures and development of water resources. Hydrologic principles are applied to model and analyze the distribution and movement of rainfall in a watershed. Hydraulic principles are applied to analyze and design flow-through systems of reservoirs, channels and culverts. The course makes extensive use of computer simulation models used in engineering practice. CER 260 - Introduction to Construction Management (3 credits) This course serves as an introduction to construction management and focuses on the implementation of various projects in which a civil engineer or construction professional may be engaged, including planning and feasibility studies, design and construction. Students study topics relating to the management of construction, including scope of work, rough order-of-magnitude estimating, scheduling, planning, progress reporting, resource constraining and quality control. The roles of the contractor, owner, public entities and designer are explained. Additional openings for the spring semester and b
