About this position

Title: Part-Time Automotive Technology Instructor Employee Classification: Faculty Institution: TCAT-Jackson Department: Automotive Technology Campus Location: TCAT Jackson Job Summary * The candidate is responsible for assisting with teaching all phases of the program including all eight areas of ASE certification for cars and light trucks: electrical and electronic systems, heating and air conditioning, engine performance, engine repair, brakes, suspension and steering, manual drive train, and axle/auto transaxle. Assist with monitoring conduct, safety, and discipline during training. .Assist with recruiting and evaluating students for the Automotive Technology program. Participate in professional development activities, including cooperating with outside agencies. Continue personal training and professional development to stay abreast of changes in the automotive industry. Assist with monitoring and evaluating student progress; accurately maintain program and student records. Other duties as assigned Job Duties Minimum Qualifications * High school diploma (or equivalent) and a post-secondary credential in Automotive Service Technology. Current ASE Service Technician Certifications required: ASE Auto Maintenance & Light Repair (G1), Suspension & Steering (A4), Brakes (A5), and Electrical/Electronic Systems (A6). Minimum of 3 years of current experience in the field. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Ability to obtain Master ASE Certification required. Master ASE credentials in all areas of cars and light trucks will be required within 18 months of hire. Evidence of ability or potential ability to instruct all phases of automotive service technology. Demonstrated knowledge and skills to inspect, troubleshoot, service, and repair domestic and import automotive systems utilizing safe and proper methods, techniques, practices, and equipment.
