The Department of Middle Eastern Studies at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a professional-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction. The position will begin in the Fall semester of the 2027–28 academic year. Duties will include teaching Hebrew as a foreign language at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additional teaching responsibilities may be required, such as courses on Hebrew/Israeli culture and undergraduate Hebrew language content courses. We seek candidates interested in a career devoted to teaching and general service to the university. Professional-track faculty are encouraged to fully integrate into the university’s faculty and intellectual life, with opportunities for advancement through promotion and multi-year contracts.
