About this position

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurological Surgery is rapidly growing and expanding its focus on brain tumor research and treatment. We invite applications for full-time faculty members at any rank to oversee a research program in any area of basic and/or translational research in neuro-oncology. Appointees will be based on the University of Chicago’s Hyde Park campus. Appointees will teach at the undergraduate and/or graduate level and may participate in clinical care if appropriate. Academic rank, track (BSD tenure-track or School of Medicine track), and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. These positions are benefits-eligible. The Department of Neurological Surgery is engaged in cutting-edge neurosurgical research and development, focusing on pioneering new treatments for a range of neurological conditions. This includes ongoing investigations into treatments for brain tumors, epilepsy, CNS congenital anomalies, and neurovascular disease. While the primary faculty appointment will be in the Department of Neurological Surgery, appointees may have an opportunity for secondary appointments in other departments of the Biological Sciences Division (BSD) dependent upon interests and qualifications. There will be multiple opportunities for appointees to collaborate with faculty in the following programs: the Ben May Department for Cancer Research, the Ludwig Center of Chicago, the Department of Medicine’s Section of Hematology/Oncology, and The University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center and its Abbvie Foundation Cancer Pavilion (opening in 2027), and the University of Chicago Neuroscience Institute.
