About this position

General Description Instructor Intern's responsibilities shall be teaching course segments as assigned by EMT Program Coordinator but only under the direct supervision of a NJ certified EMT Instructor. Characteristics, Duties, and ResponsibilitiesTeaches assigned courses material in accordance with the approved course outline, in accordance with schedule of classes and incorporating alternative approaches, technologies and methods when possible. Meets all scheduled class sessions. Advises Program Coordinator of absences in a timely manner. Cooperates with Coordinator in developing and revising courses of study and curricula when asked. Incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures and national perspectives into courses. Attends scheduled program staff meetings. Plans in advance to ensure availability of classroom equipment requisite to successful teaching of assigned tasks Adheres to professional standards of procedures. Adheres to College policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Education Requirements Certification or license as needed and appropriate as outlined by the NJ State Department of Health-OEMS for EMT Interns. ExperienceDemonstrated master of subject matter of discipline. Demonstrated ability to teach. Competencies and Skills RequiredWillingness to use alternative educational delivery. Commitment to incorporation a culturally diverse perspective into the curriculum. Knowledge of competency-based education. Fundamental competency in the use of information technology. Commitment to continued assessment of the teaching-learning process and its outcomes. Commitment to continual professional growth and development. Physical Demands and Work Environment Part-time. Hours not to exceed 25 per week. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required.
