Title: Adjunct Professor Civil Engineering Labs Reports To: Chair Position Summary: The Adjunct Professor for CE341A: Soil Mechanics Laboratory will deliver hands-on laboratory instruction covering fundamental geotechnical testing procedures, including soil classification, compaction, permeability, consolidation, and shear strength testing, in accordance with standard ASTM protocols. Responsibilities include preparing and supervising laboratory sessions, ensuring proper use and maintenance of laboratory equipment, enforcing safety procedures, grading lab reports and assignments, and providing students with practical experience that complements the theoretical content of the companion lecture course. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage undergraduate students in a laboratory setting are essential. Essential Functions: Conduct and supervise civil engineering laboratory sessions in accordance with approved course syllabi, laboratory procedures, and departmental standards. Provide instruction and demonstrations of laboratory experiments, testing methods, instrumentation, and engineering procedures relevant to the assigned course. Prepare and organize laboratory activities, including experiments, equipment, materials, samples, and instructional resources prior to each laboratory session. Demonstrate proper use of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, ensuring students understand appropriate operating procedures and testing techniques. Pre-Requisite Qualifications: Educational Qualification: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
