Position Title Adjunct Professor - Bowie State University Prison EducationProgram Rank Instructor 9101 Desired Start Date 01/29/2024 Duties & Responsibilities As an Adjunct Professor inthe Bowie State University Prison Education Program, you will havethe unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives ofincarcerated students. Your responsibilities will include: Course Instruction: Deliver high-quality instruction toincarcerated students in various academic subjects, including butnot limited to sociology, English composition, arts and humanities,social and behavioral sciences, natural sciences, mathematics,technology, and health and wellness. Curriculum Development: Develop course materials andsyllabi that align with the academic requirements of the programand meet the needs of diverse learners. Adapt teaching strategiesto the correctional environment. Student Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusivelearning environment that encourages active participation, criticalthinking, and intellectual growth among incarcerated students. Assessment: Assess student learning through assignments,exams, and projects, providing timely feedback and support forimprovement. Mentoring: Serve as an academic mentor and advisor toincarcerated students, guiding them in their educational journeysand helping them navigate academic challenges. Compliance: Ensure that all instructional activitiescomply with the policies and regulations of the correctionalfacility and Bowie State University. Minimum Qualifications Education A Masters degree in the respective field (or closelyrelated). A Doctoral degree in the respective field (or closely related)is preferred. Experience Experience working at an HBCU, with historicallymarginalized/disenfranchised groups and/or incarcerated students ispreferred.
