About this position
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery seeks a board-certified or board-eligible Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to provide clinical instruction and patient care within the predoctoral and graduate educational programs at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences College of Dentistry. This part-time Open Rank Professor position will support the department's educational, clinical, and service missions through direct supervision of dental students and residents while participating in the delivery of comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgical care. EDUCATION: DDS or DMD (or international equivalent). Completion of an ADA-accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency. LICENSES: Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS), or board eligible with certification achieved within the required institutional timeframe. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification. Eligible for unrestricted Tennessee dental licensure or Tennessee teaching license. Hospital credentialing eligibility. Eligibility for moderate/deep sedation permits consistent with Tennessee regulations. DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES: - Experience supervising dental students and residents in an academic environment preferred. Experience in dentoalveolar surgery, ambulatory anesthesia, implant surgery, and management of medically complex patients. Experience in Level 1 trauma center facial trauma management preferred. Strong interpersonal and teaching skills. Commitment to interprofessional education and patient-centered care. - Outpatient oral surgery. - Office-based anesthesia. - Maxillofacial trauma management. - Surgical treatment planning. - Digital imaging and contemporary surgical technologies. - Electronic health record proficiency.
