About this position

Chief Purpose of this position: The School of Dentistry's Department of General Dentistry is seeking applicants for an adjunct faculty position in the Department of General Dentistry to provide teaching, and patient care. This faculty position will provide didactic and clinical teaching and mentoring to pre-doctoral students and residents. The position's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate dental students in preparation for private practice, service, and scholarship. Methods of teaching will include clinical and didactic teaching, curriculum development, mentoring and patient care. Position Responsibilities: Teaching: Responsibilities include clinical and didactic teaching of 75-100 pre-doctoral students and 4-5 general practice post-doctoral residents, in the areas of practice management and running highly productive practices. Faculty members are expected to teach in an integrated curriculum system that includes baccalaureate, graduate, and professional education. Teaching across traditional departmental lines and in multidisciplinary teams is required. Faculty members are expected to foster transformative learning that is informed by interdisciplinary and translational research, scholarship, and creative expression. Clinical: This position will provide a teaching and leadership role in the dentistry clinics, seeing patients, working with students, and working collaboratively with other faculty and staff to promote best business practices, and increase clinic productivity. Required Qualifications: DDS or DMD Degree or equivalent. Eligible for a dental license in Virginia. Background in dental public health, with expertise in oral health prevention, general dentistry, and collaborative, integrative care. Leadership skills. Expansive dental clinic experience.
