Job Description: SUNY Broome Community College invites applications for qualified candidates to teach as part-time adjunct instructors within the Health Information Technology department. Adjunct instructors will have the opportunity to teach in a variety of online Health Information Technology (HIT) courses. Opportunities vary by semester. The department is establishing a pool of candidates to fill potential part time temporary teaching positions. These positions are filled on an as-needed basis per semester and are on-going recruitment efforts. Applicants are contacted/hired for assignments based on college needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Deliver instruction in fully online Health Information Technology courses, which may include: ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding. Healthcare reimbursement and revenue cycle processes. Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Healthcare data management, quality, and compliance. Facilitate student learning in an asynchronous online environment using Brightspace, the College's Learning Management System. Maintain an active online presence, including regular communication with students and participation in discussion forums. Provide timely grading and constructive feedback in accordance with departmental expectations. Incorporate applied learning activities such as coding exercises, case studies, and real-world healthcare scenarios. Promote ethical and compliant handling of health information in alignment with HIPAA and related regulations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and course materials. Offer academic support to students through timely communication and, when appropriate, scheduled virtual meetings to review coursework and provide guidance.
