Sussex County Community College (SCCC) invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Plumbing to join the Technical Occupations Division. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in both classroom and laboratory settings for students enrolled in the College's Plumbing and Building Construction programs. The instructor will prepare students for careers in the plumbing industry through a combination of theoretical instruction, hands-on laboratory activities, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate is an experienced plumbing professional who is passionate about workforce development and committed to preparing the next generation of skilled trades professionals. Primary ResponsibilitiesTeach assigned plumbing courses during daytime, evening, or weekend schedules. Deliver instruction in accordance with College-approved curriculum and learning outcomes. Provide hands-on laboratory instruction emphasizing safe work practices and proper tool usage. Teach topics including, but not limited to: Plumbing safety and OSHA regulations Hand and power tool identification and application Plumbing materials and fittings Pipe measuring, cutting, threading, joining, and installation Residential and commercial plumbing systems Drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems Water supply systems Plumbing codes and regulations Blueprint reading Plumbing mathematics Fixture installation and troubleshooting Introduction to hydronic systems Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment. Evaluate student performance through assignments, practical exercises, examinations, and projects. Maintain accurate attendance and grading records using the College's Learning Management System. Hold office hours and communicate effectively with students. Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities as appropriate.
