About this position
Position Summary Maria College seeks a dynamic, student-centered adjunct instructor to teach Anatomy and Physiology to nursing students in a weekend format: A&P 1 in Spring 2027 and A&P 2 in Fall 2027. Classes will be held on-site at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital through our partnership, placing students in a clinical environment as they build the scientific foundation for nursing practice. This position emphasizes immersive, technology-enhanced learning. The instructor will integrate XR (extended reality) anatomy simulation into lectures and labs, allowing students to explore human body systems in three dimensions and connect structure and function to real-world patient care. Training in the use of the holograph XR simulation will be provided to faculty by Director of the Center for Academic Innovation. Compensation Compensation is per course/credit hour in accordance with the college's adjunct pay scale: $ 1000 per credit hour for each course with weekend differential. Key Responsibilities Teach Anatomy and Physiology (lecture and lab components, as assigned) to nursing students on weekends, following the approved course syllabus and learning outcomes. Develops and evaluates assignments and examinations that measure student learning, providing timely, constructive feedback. Integrate XR anatomy simulation into instruction, including guided virtual dissections, 3D exploration of organ systems, and simulation-based learning activities. Orient students to the VR equipment and software, maintain safe and effective use of headsets, and troubleshoot basic technical issues in coordination with college and hospital IT support. Connect anatomical and physiological concepts to clinical nursing practice, drawing on the hospital setting where appropriate. Develop and grade assessments, including exams, quizzes, lab practicals, and simulation-based activities, and provide timely, constructive feedback. Maintain accurate attendance and grade records using the college's learning management system and submit grades by required deadlines. Hold office hours or provide equivalent availability (in person, virtually, or by email) to support student success. Follow A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital's policies for on-site conduct, facility use, and safety, and collaborate professionally with hospital staff. Participate in VR simulation training. Required Qualifications Master's degree or higher in Nursing, Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, or a closely related field, with graduate coursework in anatomy and/or physiology (typically 18 graduate credits in the discipline). Demonstrated knowledge of human anatomy and physiology across all major body systems. Availability to teach on weekends for the full Fall and Spring 2027 semesters. Ability to travel to and teach on-site at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, NY. Comfort with instructional technology and willingness to be trained in, and teach with, holographic anatomy simulation platforms. Strong communication skills and a commitment to supporting diverse adult learners. A commitment to the mission and values of Maria College. Preferred Qualifications Prior college-level teaching experience, especially in Anatomy and Physiology for nursing or allied health students. Experience using VR, AR, or simulation technology in education (e.g., Holoanatomy, Anatomage, Complete Anatomy, 3D Organon, or similar platforms). Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace, Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle).
