Adjunct Faculty - Music Position: Adjunct Faculty in Music Department: Division of Fashion, Media & Creative Arts Appointment: Part-Time / Adjunct The Department of Music invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty position specializing in Collaborative Piano and Choral Accompanying. We seek an accomplished and collaborative pianist who is passionate about supporting student musicians and contributing to the department's choral program. Our courses are in-person on our beautiful campus in Reading, Pennsylvania. Instructors must generally be able to be physically present on our campus for two days per week for each course. A typical course will be 3 credit hours and opportunities to teach more than one course per semester may be available. Adjunct instructors receive support including office space and teaching material. The successful candidate will provide piano accompaniment and collaborative support for our vocal ensembles in rehearsal and performance. The position offers an opportunity to work closely with students and faculty in a dynamic collegiate music environment. ResponsibilitiesAccompany choral ensembles for rehearsals, performances, and other departmental events. Collaborate with choral conductors, voice faculty, and other music faculty in preparing students and ensembles. Provide piano accompaniment for voice lessons, studio classes, recitals, auditions, juries, and other student performances as needed. Prepare and perform music appropriate to a variety of choral and vocal repertoire. Attend scheduled rehearsals and performances and provide reliable, professional collaborative support. Work effectively with conductors and faculty to interpret repertoire and meet musical and instructional goals. Support a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment. Participate in departmental activities as assigned. QualificationsMaster's degree in Music, Collaborative Piano, Piano Performance, or a related field preferred; exceptional professional experience may be considered in lieu of the degree. Demonstrated experience as a collaborative pianist and/or choral accompanist. Strong piano skills and the ability to prepare and perform repertoire efficiently. Experience working with choirs, vocalists, conductors, and collegiate or pre-collegiate music students. Strong sight-reading, ensemble, rehearsal, and communication skills. Professionalism, flexibility, dependability, and a demonstrated commitment to student learning. Preferred QualificationsExperience accompanying collegiate or community choirs. Experience collaborating with voice faculty and vocal students. Knowledge of a broad range of choral and vocal repertoire. Experience playing for recitals, juries, auditions, or competitions. Strong ability to adapt to the needs of conductors, ensembles, and individual performers.
