Adjunct Faculty Environmental Studies and Sciences JOB SUMMARY: The Environmental Studies and Sciences Department at Adelphi University invites applications for an adjunct to teach Natural Science & Environmental Problems for the fall 2026 semester. The course runs Tuesday/Thursday 3:05- 4:20 PM and classes run from August 24 thru December 8; with final exams Dec 11-17. Current faculty will share examples of syllabi and essential course materials with a newly hired adjunct. Natural Science And Environmental ProblemsThis course presents the scientific concepts and methods available for the evaluation of the nature of environmental problems, the physical aspects of these problems, the available potential technological solutions, and limitations of current conceptual and analytical knowledge. Topics include: renewable and non-renewable energy, biodiversity, land degradation, water and air pollution. Class Learning GoalsUpon completion of this course students will be able to: 1) Explain the principles of environmental science, including the scientific method. 2) Describe the complex interactions between the various elements of the environment. 3) Explain the dynamics of the human population and how we affect every environmental issue. 4) Identify environmental problems and alternative solutions to these problems. 5) The course learning goals will be assessed through examinations, discussions, and written assignments QUALIFICATIONS:Masters degree or PhD (ABD) in a related field.
